Man, this should be a sticky topic. Every Corvette on the planet has had or will have this problem.
Tony - We need a few more details. Are both doors acting up? Whoch door is the problem? Can you get inside an try to open the door in question from the inside? Do none of the mechanisms work?
It's the passenger door. None of the mechanisms work. The outside handle and inside handle do nothing. The actual door lock handle turns but does not release the lock.
Thanks,
Tony

Yeah, the entire mechanism is shot, the one that latches to the guide pin on the door jam.
You can get it open, but it's tricky and hard to explain. Here's a pic. Now, the red arrow point to the actual mechanism that holds the latch on the alignment pin. You will have to peel back the door panel a little and try to get an eye on that tab. It site flush with the side at the very end of the door by the jam. Once you can see it, get a long flat-head screwdriver and get a good solid push on it...straight down best you can. It will slide down, and you'll here a click, and the door should pop open. Try several times, as you may not get it the first attempt. The driver may slip off, or you may not push hard enough. Be patient and give it time.
Now, when you get it open, put some tape over the latch so t cannot close again. The sad truth here is that it needs to be replaced, and if that one has gone bad the other is not far behind. They can be bought for $90 each, and they are worth it. When doing the swap, it's a good time to make sure all your linkages are tight and everything opens correctly before you ever close the door again. Good luck.
Well, I did what you said. Pulled the door panel back and pop a screw driver in there. Door opened. Greased everything and now it all works. While I was at it greased the window track and now the power window goes up and down better.

Just be prepared...this is a warning from your latch that it's failing. Don't be suprised when this happens again. Glad you go it fixed man...keep the shiny side up.
