Jim Shea is a genius!
Then I saw Jim Shea's post about air entering through the return line fitting even though it wasn't leaking fluid. A few turns on the hose clamp and the problem is gone - no more air entering the system.
I did have to re-center my control valve after installing the new pump. I'm guessing that the new pump (NAPA) is slightly higher pressure (I read that they are rebuilt to 1000 psi -vs- the Corvettes 950 psi -vs- the passenger cars 1350 psi) and my valve was "slightly" out of center, but the minor increase in pressure magnified the off-center condition.
Again, many thanks to Jim Shea and his help!
Slick
