Default Tech Tip, as a thankyou to you C3 guys for helping me out.

OK, I have noticed alot of you have been talking about electric fans. Here is the tip, you'll thank me later...

The 89-90 ford taurus 3.8 liter has a two speed fan on it. Ok, the high speed portion pulls like 3500-4000cfm. It will cool your C3. Note: on initial start up the fan draws 130 amps for around 1 or 2 milliseconds then works down to a 40 amp constant. The air these fans put out has to be experienced to be believed. I am currently building a system for my 88 L-98 coupe, the utilizes both speeds depending on temp. There will have to be some delay circuitry involved, and a little higher value fusable link. I am going to buffer down that current on bump, by having the fan moving on low, before it switches the high... Caution: do not test the fan when there are small children or pets in the vacinity... Thanks, Tom

The Taurus fan is the baby brother of the Lincoln Mark VIII fan that a lot of us are using or plan to install.

The Taurus fan has a diameter of 16.50". I haven't experimented with the fan you have just mentioned...

The Mark VIII fan has the same great blade design, but is an 18" fan. Sucker moves some SERIOUS air, but also eats some major electrical power.
