Cs144 Alt. ??????
Can i just convert this to a (1) wire set-up and do away with the plug????? When I do serp. conversions on mid 80's chevy trucks I usually take the alt. to the local alt. shop and just have it converted to a (1) wire set-up and rebuilt. I just didn't know if doing this on a 73 corvette would mess-up the electrical system?? any opinons or facts on this idea???

Batty got it correct....the reason is the engine runs at lo speed, and that regulator function with an idiot light OR resistor wire, AND a main voltage sense wire off the power source....you need both for smooth operation...
