I use the Delco R45TS, and 2 R46TS in 7 and 8 because of bad valve guide seals....just an FYI

i just installed some BOSCH platinums in the car.
damn it runs smooth now.
rpms picked up a bit aswell.
i bought the car 69 vette) 3 months ago and the old AC plugs were way overdue for a change.
the previous owner didnt change all the plugs lol.
some were so worn that the center electrode was eaten away.

I don't think Bosch Platinum's are a bad plug, or any other platinum plug for that matter are bad plugs but for a bone stock 81 why waste your money. Sure any time you put new plugs in your car it's going to run better, that's what a tune up is for. I tried Bosch Platinum's, Split Fires and all the other HP plugs in a 4 cyl Chrysler Turbo Lebaron that put out 225 HP, My 70 440 Cuda I bought new, my Vette's and various other hot rods and I didn't notice any difference in throttle responce or mileage, between all the different HP plugs and the Champions or AC Delco's that it came with. Over the many many years its been since I was 14 and got my first car I've tried all the different NEW Breakthrough Spart Plugs, and I haven't noticed any difference for a stock engine or even a HP motor up to about 500 HP. For a stock engine, it doesn't make economical sense to put anything other than regular spark plugs, but if it makes you feel better then it's worth it because they aren't that much more expensive. My 2cents.

If the old plugs were that bad, ANY new set of plugs would make it run alot better. Nothing wrong with what you bought, but not necessarily a better plug than AC, based on this swap.

well ive always leaned towards platinum plugs be it bosch or AC etc.
ive used them for the camaro which has 2 stage nitrous and regular plugs dont seem to keep the fire going lol.
actually with nitrous itll blow out the spark.

That's exactly my point, in your case they seem warranted, but for a stock 81, the only thing they will do that the cheaper AC Delco's or NGK's can't do is make your wallet lighter!

yeah I agree for a stock smog motor.
but a 69 11:1 needs a bit more I think.
but the stock plugs will work in it for a time.

Meh Autolites work fine. I switched to Accel shorty plugs because of my headers. Gave me a bit more room between the boot and header.
