Hey guys I finally got my shark on the road after a 13 month rebuild n on my initial run I saw the temp slowly climb between 210 n 220 then on my second run of about 2 hrs she stayed between 190 n 200.....My ? being is this initial temp spike normal or not....Thanx....
If you rebuilt your engine I would expect it to run a little warmer as the bearings, rings and other wear surfaces seat themselves together. This break in period will also have increased wear on these parts as part of the seating process. That is why it is a good idea to change the oil and filter frequently for the first few thousand miles.

I have also found after a rebuild, you get little pockets of air in your cooling system which allow for some fluctuating readings until they work them selves out.

Doesn't it do that every time?

Congrats jerry. Good job gett'n it running again.
Well it's normal for temp to rise a little over the t-stat rating until the t-stat actualy opens. Then mine returns to a rock steady 180-190*F. But mine is a small block and may behave different.
Anyways don't be surprised if it does that everytime you start-up.
