I just took delivery of another '76. Before I bought it I was told it had just had a clutch repair done. The owner tells me now that he did it himself. You'll never guess what he did..............he completely removed the tranny and clutch from the car, found a broken spring on the clutch plate, removed the spring and metal bits then reassembled everything. No new parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's my question..........do you think I'll hurt anything by driving it to a tranny shop? (about 45 miles) It seems to shift fine but I'm not a tranny expert so I have no idea how important it is to have all the springs attached and working.
For around $200.00 this bubba could have put a new clutch in the damm thing when he had it all apart. I dont get it.
He was wanting to sell it. How far did you drive it home? If he has been driving it and you have driven it, it seems that it would last to get it to a shop. Clutches aren't that hard to change tho. Put it on stands and do it yourself. You have plenty of help here if you need it.
