Default U-Joints +=====+ getting off half shafts

Im trying to get these u-joints off my halfshafts, and they won't budge. The U-joints on my drive shaft popped off with a few wacks of the hammer , but these other guys won't even move? Should I try heating them up, or do I need to get them pressed off? Thanks guys.

You can try putting them in a healthy vice and use a socket slightly smaller than the bearing cup to press them. It will help if you clean the crud out from the side your pressing out of to assure a clear path. Obviously you can't get them all the way out this way but will get them started, then you can finish the removal with the .

My Minnesota rust welded joints were totally froze in. A little heat from my acetylene torch and cutting out the crosses so you only have to push one cap out at a time took care of things.

I am totally against pressing U joints off. If you do you can NOT press off the outer Ujoint with the flange without bolting the flange to a supporting plate. If you do not support it you will bend it.
I cut the X out with a torch and then use an air chissel to walk the hot end caps out.
Like soldering cleanliness is everything for reinstalling.
Again I do not recommend force. Use heat

I got r dun. I only had to heat one side to get it out, and the others I were able to bang out.

Here comes the paint.
