Default Electric fan relay?

Can anyone provide me with some information on the location of the relay for the electric radiator cooling fan, and any info on the sender? I have an 82 model with A/C, and the fan is not coming on automatically. Haven't gone through the wiring completely, as the car was sort of hot, but I'm thinking the sender on the head or the relay is out. I did hot wire the fan and it will work that way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
JR

Check the fuse first before you strip the car.

Checked that first. Also, last night looked at it some more, and disconnected the fan at the connector; car side does not have power or continuity to ground. So I think that if there is a relay somewhere, that is probably the problem. Just don't know where it is. Haven't gotten the GM Service Manual yet, and the Haynes book is useless on diagrams for this car.

On my 81 the temperature sender is on the passenger side, it's a copper or brass thing with two wires. It's easier to get to from underneath with the car in the air. what I would do is unhook the connection, then use a small piece of wire to connect the two ends of the wires you just pulled off, and then turn the ignition to the accesory position (so the radio comes on, but not the engine) if the eletric fan comes on then you need a new temp sender. if not, then there is some other problem. When you take the old temp sender out coolant will come out, so watch out. Mine needed a 7/8 wrench.
