ok, my box is installed, i am ussing a 255 50 r17 tire and when i turn the whell i am getting tire rub on the frame.... is this something that is fixable with a proper allignment? or did i get the pit man arm installed on the wrong spot on the splines? tires rubbed with my 255 65 r15,s as well.
Norval typically not around on weekends, so if I may....I suspect as long as your steering wheel is centered, and the front wheels have good alignment, you are good to go....I have tire rub issues as well, and so not too bad....still tighter than a '87 C4....
I had limited the radius long ago by building out the lower steering stops on the A arms....
Fooled you Gene. I am around. Like Gene says if the wheels were pointed striaight ahead and the steering box was any where near center the pitman arm only goes on one way. You can't jump splines with it. I think only every 90 degrees will it fit.
Next your A arms and steering arm have stops. That is what limits the turning ability of the car. Look at the back of the lower A arms you will see the steering arms have projections that hit the A arm and limit the turning radius, not your steering box.
If you rub it is the offset of the rims and not the box.
