Default Air conditioning help

I bought a 1970 that needs the a/c hooked back up. It hasnt been connected for quite some time. It still has the condensor connected and evaporator but is missing the compressor , poa valve and lines. What is the best way to approach getting it working again. Do i need to service the existing parts ? Is a Delco rebuilt compressor the way to go. I heard you can put in a newer type of poa valve?

Any advice would be appreciated as I do not know much about a/c systems.

Jerry

Is your car original or modified? If it is modified I would use a Sanden compressor as it is smaller and much more attractive. All original type parts are available also. If you are going to use your existing evap and condenser coils I would remove them from the car and fill the lines with brake cleaning solvent, let it soak a couple of days to break down all the crap in the coils, blow them out, and take them to an a/c shop to be flushed. As with any a/c systemm keep your clean coils, new compressor, lines, hoses etc. closed up and clean to keep out moisture and other contaminants. If you are going to attemp this yourself PM me and I willhelp you with the details
