Just broke in the cam on my new 383. During break in it was very noisy under the passenger side valve cover. It seems the most forward rocker on the # 8 cylinder is the culprit. I can adjust most of the noise out at idle but it comes back as soon as I rev the motor. Any ideas what would cause this and what I can do about it? :confused:
Ok, this is a LONG shot but it worked for me one time. . .
I had rebuilt a Buick V-6 one time and I had the same problem you are describing. A mechanic friend told me to mash down REALLY hard on the pushrod/lifter side of the rocker arm with the "handle" end of a hammer while the engine was running.
I KNOW, I KNOW, it sounds corny but it worked! I guess that the lifter may have been slightly defective and the pressure applied to it must of helped free it up. I dunno?? But... at the very least, it doesn't take long to try it and it doesn't cost anything.
Can you give us more details on your motor? (like the manafacturer of the stroker kit, rod type-full floating or press fit, etc)
What condition are the valve springs in (old, new, who's kit?)

If you have headers, it might just be an exhaust leak between the haeder and head. This kind of leak sound just like a lifter. Just something to think about. lou :cheers:
