Default Differential pics

Here's a few pics of the differential and trailing arm overhaul from
my2nd78. The first one shows the damage caused by worn out stub axles.

This pic shows the inside. Notice the pattern on the ring gear. These gears are worn out. Also notice the large chunks sitting in the bottom.

Here's a brighter pic showing metal thruout the rear end from the stub axles.

Chris, here's the pics of your new trailing arms.

Good eye Buddy. No it's not a crack, I think it's a hair. I haven't cleaned the teardown bench in awhile.

David, it's a 69 I bought a couple of months ago for parts. If I was to guess I would say it's an Ecklers wide body kit with the whaletail, now gone. Last time it was registered was '84. Stock suspension and no signs of cage mounts. It's missing the left rear and door sections.

Man Mike, that looks as bad as the 69 BB diff I did last year! LOL

Those spiders look poor too, judging by the pattern on the teeth. I couldn't see the full RG pattern, is it full and saw toothed?

I know it will be MUCH better when you're done with it!

Mike - I almost bought that car. He sent me pics and I never went out and looked at it because he could find all the pieces.

I told ya Gary, this thing is nasty. I don't know what kind of lube was run in it but it doesn't spray off. The drive pattern is full on every tooth. But someone has been in there before and shimmed the pinion. The coast pattern is trashed.

84rz Are you sure you want more pics? Those pics are it's good side.

He still couldn't find the rest of the body panels. But he gave me a bunch of parts,i.e. junk, from other vettes. I had to outbid Mark Uptmor for it. It appears to be an original BB car. Amazingly it still has the rear window storage tray in it.

I'll need to check with someone that knows more than I but maybe a couple of those body panels may be worth a buck if they are original Greenwoods. The older Greenwood front clips had the step in the fender that yours has, I'll see what I can find out and let you know.
David
I sent photos off to a friend who is the Greenwood expert, maybe it's something, maybe not

I bought the car for the frame, haven't given the body much thought. If someone needs the fenders I'll sell them along with anything else. Amazingly it still has the headrests and the original rear window tray. David if you need any more pics let me know what you want to see.

Mike
The trailing arms are perfect. I'm not going to have any concerns about the rear end on this beast after you get through with the rebuild. The supension will be tight and the Diff will be solid. It is nice being able to have you do all the work that I needed instead of having to go to different places for each item that I need work done on. The rear will have no problems with the new motor that I am building, except for lack of traction, maybe.

I'm still hoping to put it all back together this weekend. I am running behind on the sanding and painting. Guess I have a date every nite this week with the wire wheel, scotch brite pads and the nice soft garage floor.

Oh, and I now have the fuel tank issue to contend with.
