Correct name for this steering wheel?
I always thought it was officially called the "comfort-grip".
Or, is it really the "cushion rim"?
Any official factory, or dealer paperwork, to show what is actually right?
That is exactly the one I am looking for.
See here is what happened:
While at an event.....
I called the wheel a Comfort-grip. (like I always have) - I was corrected.
Apparently there was this memo back in 1969 where Chevrolet was thinking to offer the Corvette Steering wheel in the Camaro.
In that internal memo to Camaro production,
it was called a "Cushion Rim wheel".
But the Kicker is, that it never made it into production, and NONE was ever delivered in a Camaro. So Camaro could have called it Cushion, or even a bean bag wheel, but it doesn't matter, because you couldn't get one in a Camaro - EVER.
I am trying to figure out exactly what this wheel was called -
when it was actually advertised, offered, available, and sold to the public.
In the 1969 judging manual, NCRS simply calls it a black, vinyl coated, sport styled wheel.
I will gladly accept the other name, but only if I truly believe it was called that... when installed in a Corvette.
