Default 72 electrical question

Just picked up a 72 and ther seems to be a problem.
When you turn the lights on, the right side turn signal indicator comes on.
The signals work fine and it even blinks as it should.
When you turn the lights off, the light goes out.
Any ideas?

Check the right side bulbs. Either someone has installed an 1156 instead of an 1157 or the bulb is installed wrong. With the parking lites only turned on remove the bulb front or rear and see which one turns off the turn signal indicator.

Here is what I found.
First, I replaced the bulbs on the right side.
All are 1157 and installed correctly.
When I remove the front, the indicator goes out.
Put it back in and the right indicator comes back on.
This condition only exists when the lights are turned on.
The indicator does blink when the turn signal is activated.

Any more suggestions? I am at a loss.

You have found where the problem is. Now you need to find what the problem is.
Bad or shorted bulb. Try another bulb.
Bad ground. Clean the insids of the socket and trace the ground wire. Make sure it has a good ground. Also check and clean the terminals in the plug.
Short in socket. About all you can do here is replace it but give it and the terminals a good cleaning first.
Are the turn signals on the right side as bright as on the left? If not then look closely at the grounds.
Moisture is the number 1 cause of these electrical problems. Use a good dielectric grease on the terminals to keep the contacts clean

Also run a temporary ground to outside metal part of socket.Ground your test light and touch socket ground with probe end-if things work right its the ground.
