I installed a new repro Quanta tank in my 68. I used an Eastwood paint that had approximately the same appearance of the new plating on the repro tank. Silver Cad??
I figured the paint would protect the tank external surfaces longer. I even thought about coating the interior with one of those tank sealers, but I didn't. For the idea of coating the interior, the concept of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it won out."
I roughed mine up with steel wool - -then shot it with a thin primer and then krylon . . .looked great, easy to keep clean and I guess I was the only one that really appreciated it . . .but it looked good !
