Hello, also Steering gear lube
Second, I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. But I have manuals (repair and overhaul), a good comprehensive auto mechanics book, and some tools... so I'm dangerous. Anyhow, I love to learn.
The question I have concerns lubing the steering gear. I know which bolts to take out. Problem is, the brake lines run right overtop of that area, so I can't get a wrench around one of them at all (the fill), and the one I can get a wrench around (the check) I can't budge for the life of me. Is that where the brake lines are supposed to go? Do I need to take it out? Looks like I need to remove the brake lines to do that.. will I need to refill/bleed the brake system just to lube the steering gear?
Also, I was trying to remove fuel lines, and damn I must be getting weak in my old age because I can't seem to get those nuts to turn either without creating so much torque I suspect I'll snap the fuel lines themselves. And yeah, I'm spraying with WD-40.
If that sounded whiny at all, don't reply -- I hate whiny people. I'll figure it somehow.
