Default Seat back bolts

I started noticing my drivers seat back giving me less support than normal last week. Surprised me because when I had the new leather put on them last Summer, the frames were checked and no rust or any problems were found with them. The seats were covered with champagne leather to go with the new interior I put in the car.

Looking at it showed the problem: The bolts that stick out from under the seat back are loose. They mate with studs sticking up from the bottom of the seats, padded with a rubber puck and 'locate' the seat back into position.

Right now the seat back is kinda flopping in the breeze so to speak, and resting on the carpeted area behind the seat.

Mid America sells a plate that bolts on to the seat bottom to fix rusted frames in this area of the seat but I've never seen a fix for this prob. Are these chrome bolts under the seat back threaded into weldnuts inside the seat? Would it be possible to peel the new leather back and just double-nut the bolt if there's enough threads?

If they are not rusted the common problem is that thae welded nut mount on the bottom seat frame has broken loose. The nut itself doesn't break loose, but the sheetmetal it is mounted to is just tack welded to the rest of the sheetmetal. It should be welded solid to repair. Be sure to bend everything back to original before welding.
If you are carefull, you can flip just the seat bottom upside dowm, slip another piece of sheetmetal between the foam and the seat springs to protect foam, cover the rest with wet towels, and reweld. Will be much better than oem.

Yea I figured it was something like that. I didn't watch, while the seats were recovered so I don't know what's inside 'em. your description does make sense though ....
