A previous forum member (Gator81) has those fitted on his L81. Loves them. He said he was expecting a harder ride as there's an extra 2 plys to his old BFG's, but said the first ride with them felt like somebody had wrapped his old tire in velvet. Cornering dramatically improved (due to the stiffer sidewalls) & he's able to take his favorite bends a lot faster than he could before. The only downside is that they don't look as nice as the BFGs. Gator is well into handling improvements, so if he's impressed with them then they've gotta be good. In fact, his email about them was so full of praise that I would have got a set for mine if I hadn't just bought a set of BFG's.

265x50x15 street tires, corners great, holds, ran the car at Pocono Race track(road course) on Labor Day. Wind and RAIN from the hurricane Ernsto(sp?). Car went down the staight away over a hundred, taped the breaks and went into the turn like a slot car. Went a round with a race car driver for a few laps. He had been in the car last year with the stock tires on a dry day. He said the car cornered better in the rain with this size tire then last year with the stock tires.

I'm running H rated Falken Ziex 502 (215/65-15) on my 72. I got them for $50 a piece brand new. I've been pretty happy with them. I'm running the Ziex 512's on another one of my cars and also happy with the ride and cornering. But I have to admit its getting harder to find performance tires for 15" rims.

are nittos 555R any good on winding roads and sharp bends?? i doubt it, these wheels are specifically built for drag racing...so why expect something they were not built for (hill climbing for example...)?

i really wish i had racing or extreme performant (but not on a streight line but on a winding road) tires in the zise 15'', i'd buy them at any cost, but there are not...and i do not want to 17 or 18'' rims, i like the 15''...

Hoosiers A6 or R6 DOT Radials. 245/50/15 (Z rated? )

They don't last to long and are only for dry roads but they grip like crazy.

Hoosier DOT radial A6's and R6's are basically a road racing slick.

The I pattern Hoosier is a bias ply race tire (Street TD) simular to the radial in application.

Neither are a everyday tire and are like driving on ice in the rain.

Would the 275/50/15 Hoosier R6 fit on the stock rim? It says recommended rim width of 8", which is what I believe the stock rim is.

If those fit I may consider investing in a set of those for autocross...
