Default I needed a little corvette therapy

Just headed out the highway, stopped at a "scenic overlook" (I78), took pics, came back thru the park, 50 mile roundtrip, feel much better now!

Mark
Continue with your therapy by taking a 20 or so mile ride north to the Whiskey Cafe in Lyndhurst.
I'm leaving in about an hour to go.
350-400 vehicles,food,music every sat night 6-10.
A great time.

Hey! I know where that scenic overlook is! We stop there every year on our way to Super Chevy in Reading Pa. Been there many times.

I have not driven mine in about 3 weeks. I'm getting very weak. I need a fix real bad. I won't be home until late Weds. Looks like a Thurs. ride. Nice pics. Flag is a good touch.

Sounds good. :D I know exactly what you mean. I get into my corvette for the daily commute, just look over the hood and think, this is GOOD. ~Juliet

I just pulled my carb out and sent it to Lars. I won't be driving mine for over a week...

I'm gonna need a bad fix by then... :(

Wish my car was finished! I would have joined you. Feel kind of guilty about working on something so unimportant right now with so many suffering.
Tried to pull off the warped power steering pulley tonight. I would not break loose. Guess I'll have to remove the pump and try again on the workbench where there is more room. Question? Do you know if you have to bleed the pump after installation, or does it more or less push the aiir into the reservoir by itself?

Yes, you will need to bleed the pump after you install it. Here are the instructions.

I'm quoting my 79 manual. (I've done this so I know it works).

1. Fill oil reservior to proper level and let oil remain undisturbed for at least two minutes.
2. Start engine and run only for about two seconds.
3. Add oil if necessary.
4. Repeat above procedure until oil level remains constant after running engine.
5. Raise front end of vehicle so that wheels are off the ground.
6. Increase engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.
7. Turn the wheels (off ground) right and left, lightly contacting the wheel stops.
8. Add oil if necessary.
9. Lower the car and turn wheels right and left on the ground.
10. Check oil level and refill as required.
11. If oil is extremely foamy, allow vehicle to stand a few minutes with engine off and repeat above procedure.
a. cehck belt tightness and check for a bent or loose pulley. (Pulley should not wobble with engine running.)
b. Check to make sure hoses are not touching any other parts of the car, particularly sheet metal and exhaust manifold.
c. check oil level, filling to proper level if necessary, following operations 1 through 10. This step and step "D" are extremely important as low oil level and/or air in the oil are the most frequent causes of objectionable pump noise.
d. Check the presence of air in the oil. If air is present, attempt to bleed system as described in operations 1 through 10. If it becomes obvious that the pump will not bleed after a few trials, proceed as outlined under Hydraulic Sysem Checks.

If your pump won't bleed out the air, drop me an e-mail and I'll go into the Hydraulic checks for you.

I drive my 69 daily. Last week I had to change the waterpump so I drove the mini-van (UGH) to work for two days. It feels like the gas pedal doesn't do anything but make the engine louder. It really makes you apprieciate your corvette.

I understand the therapy thing. What I often find on my car is that it has too much gasoline in the tank and I have to go run it for a while to get rid of some  It always seems like I end up filling it again though and then it has too much again. ;) It seems to follow the weather -- I'm more likely to have too much gas in the tank on a nice summer evening than on a rainy winter morning  Can anyone explain this to me?

I also haven't been in the mood to work on or drive my Vette since the Great National Tragedy. Although I have stopped by the Forum, I haven't really been in the mood to post very many replies. I guess in my mind, the trials and tribulations of keeping a C3 running just doesn't seem as important as it did before September 11th. I guess in my own way, I needed to complete the grieving process before feeling comfortable driving my Vette.

Today, I will wash the Vette and take a nice cruise. If we don't continue what we did in our lives before that horrible day, then the criminals that inflicted such misery on all those poor lost souls will have won.

God Bless America.
