I currently own a 79 vette and have noticed that the handling/steering floats alot on the road. The steering is not tight at all, infact its really sloppy. Is this a common thing with c3 vettes? If not, what should I do to correct this issue/or what could be the cause of this. Thanks again...marty
had the same problem with my 78. replaced control arm bushings, sway bar bushings, ball joints, shocks, and front springs. steers straight and no more wandering. also replaced rag joint.

The front end is standard GM issue for the era. Take it to a front end shop and have it redone ... or if you are confident you can rebuld it yourself there's plenty of threads on this here on this forum.
i had exact same issue on my '79, floating and the whole 9 yds. I changed upper and lower control arm bushings to polyurethane and lower ball joints replaced. It drives like new.
