I go along with AC this time I assumed you had put coolant back in the radiator before, but if thats not case, dont panic, when the engine and radiator cool off than you need to put coolant in the radiator( you might have to take some of the water out to put the coolant) I recently change my radiator fluids and used almost to bottles of coolant to get it up to the right ratio, but I have a 4 core aftermarket performance radiator so it has a higher capacity than the original type.
Once you have filled the radiator and placed the cap back on... fill the plastic water reservoir to the cold water level and after driving it at temperature.. add water to the reservoir as needed till the level no longer drops. There is no reason to keep taking the radiator cap off to check. The anti-freeze/water will be taken from the reservoir if needed. As for the carburetor...(GOOD LUCK) as for rebuilding... save yourself the frustration and agony and expense and do yourself a huge favor and buy the Edelbrock exact replacement! You will never be happier! Then just put the original in the box and save it. The expense of having the original rebuilt correctly by someone that knows what they are doing is going to cost you the same as the new one!! Sure.. you can go buy a cheap 20 to 40 dollar kit.. and hope to have it cured by doing a rebuild yourself...but you are only fooling yourself! Benn there done that...That Edelbrock Replacement is schweeeet!!! I also have a 1980! my third one!! :yesnod:
Ooh! Another woman that knows cars and likes vettes!
This rules. :D
I get a kick out of all of you going head over heels just cause Jenny owns a vette and does most of her own work (and the fact that she's good lookin'). It's not like you can ask her out. She's in NC and ya'll are...well...not in NC. :jester J/K I too think it's great that she is into doing her own work. Good job Jenny, love the vette. I'm sure we'll all get to know you here on the forum. Be sure to post your screw-ups as well as the good things you do. We need to be able to learn from each other.
