Default 81 Coupe Door Question

I am in the process of adding up the parts that need to be restored on my 81 that I just received from my father in law. I noticed that both doors have some rust on the inside of the metal portion of the door where the holes are to access the window mechanism. Does anyone know of any place that would sell two aftermarket doors or do the skins contain that metal portion?

Thanks in advance,

Brian

I don't think there is any such thing as aftermarket doors. If yours are salvageable, there are several ways to prevent them from becoming further damaged. If not buy some used doors from another 78-82 vette to replace yours. If you have major corrosion of the inner metal door frames, I would suggest just buying the used doors. if you have rust, but have no issues with the metal rusting through, you can remove the door skins using a heat gun to soften the bonding adhesive that holds them on. Have the inner doors media blasted, and then powder coated, or paint them with POR 15 or other rust preventive paint. Then rebond the door skins to the metal frames.

Good luck
