I did it this weekend, I finally made it into the 11's, if just barely.

I think it has a little left, the carb is still only close and I desperately need a converter, I am still only getting 1.75 second 60 foot times and I'm bogging badly doing it.

Still it feels good to be out of the 12's

That is really hauling for a bugeye Sprite! Could you refresh my memory on your setup?

what do you have for rear tires? Even with my 28X10 GoodYear slicks and 9 psi. My 60 ft were always 1.70's 700R4 low first gear and 4.11 with 3500 stall would just smoke the tires if I power braked much past 1600 rpm.

Yea, this car will go anywhere. It's nice and streetable.
Doesn't get too good of gas mileage, but I'm working on it

Ha ha this is NOT the bugeye!, I'm not sure if it could go 1/4 mile ( Lucas electrics and all )

George, I think you have too much gear and I don't have enough lol maybe we culd split the difference???

Specs are:
1976 MontyCarlo 400 inch Block
Trick Flow 4" throw crank
Lunati forged pistons, 9cc dish
Lunati 5.875 rods
AFR 210 race ready heads
Ultradyne cam
Hydraulic lifters
239 duration @.050
.507" lift
108 degree Lobe Seperation
1.5:1 Roller rockers

TH400 with shiftkit
Stock converter

3.70:1 diff
7 leaf rear spring, 550 lb front springs ( way hard for launching )
275 R60 Drag radials

I do a big burnout, set the 2 step rev limiter to 1500rpm ( thats about all I can foot brake it to) and hit the rev limiter hard when the first yellow comes on.

If I don't get the tires really hot I spin and get 2 second 60 foots :P

What have you done to the rear end to keep gears, shafts and u-joints from being destroyed? What's your CR? That's a damn nice set up, BTW!

Congratulations! Out of curiosity, what RPM are you shifting at? Any plans for future mods?

The rear is stock but rebuilt, I use spicer solid ujoints on small diameter half shafts. I do have a stripe painted on them to see if they twist. It's just a matter of when they twist I think...

The next thing I need to do is a converter. But I need to finish the paint first!

I can get 10ish MPG if I don't get on it, so no I rearely get 10 LOL.

I do agree with the bigger cam idea, I will do that eventually.
A nice solid roller would rock.

Think I could make it into the 10's ??
THAT would be a trip...
