Default Top 3 solutions--reverse lights

What are the top 3 reasons why reverse lights go out on a manual tranny? Assume bulbs are good.

What's the first place (easiest) to check?

Thanks.

Backup switch would be the first place I would go to. I am assuming you still have the Muncie style transmission. This is the pics that I have left of my backup switch. Hope this helps some.

Assuming the bulbs are good. I would say either the switch is bad. Or The wire got cut. Or The linkage from the switch to the Tranny got diconnected.

The thin metal rod in the right side of Eddie's pics was disconnected at the switch. The rod goes through a metal plate toggle, and is held by a spring snap (that is long gone). I tried to buy the connector at 2 parts stores and the closest thing was a C snap ring. The rod should probably be drilled for a cotter pin. Anyone know where to get this clip?

With it attached, the lights work fine.

Thanks for the pictures!
My linkage to the switch was installed upside down!
Got it to work again!
