Default Hooker sidepipes with factory covers?

Hi Guys, I was thinking of putting some Hooker sidepipes on my '69. Has anyone tried to use the factory style '69 covers with these? How'd it look and how much "massaging" was required? Thanks-

It would be really hard to do, if not impossible, the pipes of the hookers come out just where the factory covers wrap around into the rear of the front wheel arch.

The hooker side pipes also stick out way further from the body than the much smaller factory pipes.

Both the hookers and the factory covers would need some major mods to fit but I would definately not bother.

If you want covers, look at Cobra style covers. They fit and look the best on Hooker Sidepipes, IMO. By the way I had these sidepipes on my car and they have many advantages, Large primary tubes, no exhaust clutter under the car, sound and look great. Disadvantages, if you ever drive in the rain they stain, Very hot- leg burns.

If you are interested in keeping the factory covers and having better performance than the Hooker set-up check back with me in a week or two. I will have 1 3/4" split collector headers, designed by Stahl headers, into 3.5" pipe with a shortened JCL Baffle insert - also anticipate installing a balance tube if all goes well. I already have flywheel dyno tests and plan to check this set-up out on a chassis dyno.

Thanks guys, I already have Hookers on my heavily modified '74 454 car, which I love, but I kinda want to keep the 69 427/435 car looking more original. I was hoping to get the Hooker sound/performance under the factory looking sidecovers but I guess it's not really feasible.
