Hello, I rebuilt the holly carb and now it works. It turned out that the timing never actually changed. I bumped it up after it warmed up though. It is about an inch after the 16 (end of timing marker). It runs great. The only thing that i saw that was bad inside the carb was the bolts on the aluminum plate inside the rear float bowl were very loose. Everthing else looked good. I even tested the floats and they were good. Thanks for all the advice.
Check your fuel filter before you do ANYTHING. I had both a Cuda and Firebird. Brand new everything. Then they started to run as if timing was bad, etc with not many miles on it after changing out fuel filters. It was both fuel filter related. And Im talking new fuel filters were just put in
The culprit was an in line filter, thats sold on the walls at autozone, etc. Both were the same make (cant remember make at the moment), but it was an inline filter (not the kind with changeble filters) About 2" in diameter, nipples on both ends.
Come to find out this type filter will not flow well enough. Changed to another brand, no prob
What the heck, change out/check the fuel filter. A clogged, or filter not letting fuel thru will in the right amount will make the motor act as if its timing or electrical related........
Hello, I have not checked the harmonic balancer outer ring yet but i will. I have a summit fuel line ( the kind with chrome lines going splitting off to feed both bowels) with a built in filter ( It's a goldish color and feels like brick) with the fuel guage. I cleaned out the filter. It just had one speck of dirt that i could see.
