Default Body Shim Question

Lifted my 73 body 3 wk. ago. only found 2 shims (approx. .015") on the floor & none left on the body mounts. How much problems can I expect when I re fit the body with new hardware?

.015 ain't much, no idea where they came from? Basically put in new mounts with old shims is the answer. Mine has 6 @#4 right, 4@#3, 2@#2 and 1@#1 all on the right, have not gotten to the left yet due to rust @#2

These shims are thankfully thin. You probably won't see much difference. Any significant shim problem will show up with door alignment issues. Can you guess where they came from? Maybe look at the body/frame mounting locations to see if there's a clue as to where they came from.

I had the same basic problem. When you lift the body off, shims are likely to fall to the ground and it's difficult to tell where they came from. Also, some will stick to the body and then later fall off. It is of course difficult to figure where they came from.

The next time I lift a body off, I'm going to be very aggressive about watching out for the shims.
