I just came from a swap meet that I met a Performance Company selling Cat products. He said they were made by Eagle. Any truth to this. I am in the process of building a 406 and somewhat on a budget with this build, I was going to use a Scat 9000 crank and I could buy a Cat forged for $310. To me, that really a cheap price for a crank being forged. Forged Rods from Cat were $150. Any comments from you others that have built motors will be appreciated.

Can you say China ? They may be OK or they may not, I wouldn't take the chance. SOme have had no problems with the product, personally I would use a Scat 9000 crank over a forged Cat crank, and before some tells me something I already know about Scat cranks, they are machined and go thru quality control in the states

Scat now uses foriegn steal but they have been machining parts since
the 60s in Calif. All of the high RPM quick little volkswagons you used
to see in the 60s with the scat decal that was them, they still make
stuff for bugs. They have a 40,000 sq. ft. building they machine parts in.
