I'm finishing the pre-fitting of my 383 today and I just want to run something by anyone who has a minute: I get a different torque spec from everyone I talk to on tech lines especially due to different types of lube.
I have ARP main bolts (#134-5202) and ARP rod bolts/nuts(not the wave-locks) and the torque specs I got from the ARP tech rep is: 70lbs inner and outer for the mains using ARP assembly lube and 50lbs for the rod bolts using ARP assembly lube.
This differs from what I see on the back of the ARP packaging, but I have been torquing them to the specs I got from ARP via phone.
Is there any margin to play with here and does this sound right to you? The phone advice for torque seems to exceed what I read elsewhere.
Just double-checking and thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm fine using the ARP specs via phone tech. So far everything is going well. I'm getting .008 - .009 side clearance on the steel rods so I think that's okay. I'm getting ready to cc the cylinder now to calculate static compression.
