Default Quick question about headers

Hey all
New top end (Hoping for 100 HP gain) and had to go with headers
Question is, Will the car be louder with the full length headars through stock 2" exhaust than it was with the 2" ram horns?

YES but its more of a power sound then just loud exhaust. You will like the sound. Next you need to chg to a 2.5 exhaust system & flowmaster mufflers.

The exhaust system is only a few months old and cost me quite a few $$$
I will consider the 2 1/2" or side exhaust when the current system rusts out, but this rebuild has cost me much more than I originally thought so I wont be changing anything soon.

The car is not very loud now so perhaps it will be just right after the headers are installed.

Bob-You'll likely hear the biggest difference at the front of the car, as manifolds insulate a lot of exhaust noise that headers can't because of their thin-walled construction. But as Jim said, it's a power sound, and definitely let's people know you've got something under the hood

I have owned cars with headers before, in fact my 70 El Camino SS has headers on it but It's been so long since I swapped over that I couldnt remember the difference.

Years ago a good friend of mine had this 340 Duster that was a pretty neat car,, pretty fast for what it was, he didnt race it (track or street) but all the rest of us did, mainly at the track, (our own cars), so one day he shows up and says that he wants headers, and would I help him install 'em. sure, y not I tell him, well it took two days because a lot of crap had to be removed (and reinstalled) to make em fit, when we were finally done I asked him what time he'd be ready to go to the strip Sunday,,, he said that he wasnt going,, he only wanted the headers for the "SOUND", as he put it, the tinny kind of resonance that (closed) headers gives ya, Yep, I smacked him upside his head. Eventually we got him on the strip and he was hooked, got that Duster to run mid 13's consistantly with only a reworked torque flite 3:90 gears 7" slicks and his good sounding headers,,,,,,those were the daze. Believe it ot not, My very first car was a 1970 GOLD Duster (The gold was not the color, just a model designastion)
It was a 430 with 360 heads
I traded my Ithica featherweight 12 gauge shot gun and $200 for the Duster
Never had the chance to drive it as I was 14 and too young to have a license
Then someone offered me a 68 Camaro with a built 350/BW super T-10... I took the camaro
Both had headers....
After seeing my '73 with the headers on it at the shop today, I must admit, I'm getting a bit excited (You can see a pretty good amount of the new Aluminum raditor too
New top end and Hopefully a 100HP gain. I hope it was worth it

Yes the sound will be tinnier with headers,you will feel the power ,and don't forget to retighten the header bolts once you get her home,and then a week later agian ,then you should be good to go for about a year,then if you remember retighten then,and use the Mr gasket ultra header gaskets ,they don't burn out like the ones that come with the headers.
