Default Power Antenna Replacment

I am replacing my stock radio with a CD player/radio with upgraded speakers in my 80. My power antenna never worked so I want to replace it with one that is compatible with a modern stereo and will fit in the original location. I searched the typical corvette vendors and for a universal power antenna they want at least $100; that sounds a little ridiculous. When I search the net I see similar power antennas the vendors are selling for $45.
Any brands that are good and reasonably priced?

your stock will work. check if ant motor runs.if it does;cable inside motor is broke. an easy fix.if not check power to relay;behind pass. seat. no power;check radio connections. done my 80 last week;broken cable. works fine now.

I think it is completely shot. I hooked power to it directly and the motor doesn't run. I would rather buy a new anyway since I am redoing the entire stereo system. I just want a decent replacement. Anybody now a good replacement.

I put in a Radio-shack $45 p-antenna. Worked but it was very loud going up or down and it did not go into the fender like original. Being that I have a it must be perfect or nothing I replaced it w/a $100 anti from one of the vette vendors. Then I install a cut off switch and play CD's all the time w/the antenna down.....

That $100 antenna is probably the same as this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/POWER...mZ160036732545

I just bought a Metra Power Antenna from Advanced Auto on my way home from work. I guess i will find out if i can create a few new words installing it. Allthough it looks pretty easy to install.

Your not the only one, they definetly have gotten me a few times to many. I just taken the thing out of the package and it looks to be pretty good quality. I paid $45.
