What I plan on putting together is a 406 using the following parts. TFS 64cc CNC 195 runners Aluminum heads, Probe forged pistons, 6" Scat rods, Scat 9000 crank, 9;5;1 comp. DT 1 5/8 headers, RPM Air Gap Intake, 750 Holley carb, TKO 500 (.68OD), and MSD digital 6 electronics. Now for a cam??? I have benn hering and reading of this Lunati 268 #60103LK cam. Guys on the Chevelle web site and Harold from Ultradyne, and had also worked for Lunati says its also a good grind. Anybody out there using it or know of anyone that has? I need vacuum as you all well know. Any advice or recommendations are appreciated.
The specs on that cam are more like what many cam cos. would call a 280 or more. Advertised duration has not been a good way to select a cam for a very long time.
From Lunati 60103LK
Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 227/233
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .489"/.504"
This High Performance street cam likes 2400 RPM stall, 700 cfm carb, dual plane intake and headers.
Anyway it sounds like you have been looking into what you want- that cam would work for you- more cam could be run.
Those cam specs are very similar to Howard's cam I am running in my 377(383 with a standard bore) in my '70 Monte carlo. All of your engine is almost exactly the same as mine. Anyway, I'd say you could easily go a step higher.

Seems awfully small for a 406 to me That is a 350 cam. You can go bigger on lift and duration and still get good vacumn with your setup. I would go hydraulic retro roller. Check out this cam. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Se...umber=12-432-8 With a 406 it will tame the cam down a lot. You need 1 or 2 sizes larger than the cam help page will indicate because the 406 will pull down low anyway and with the 5 speed you will be able to stay in your working RPM range easily. Here is a cam help page. http://www.compcams.com/Technical/CamHelp/

A 406 needs a step or 2 bigger than a 377 to get the same driveability also.
