I just received my front-end rebuild kit and want to paint the sway bars, A-arms, etc. while I have it all apart. I don't have a paint gun setup, but ain't afraid of a spray can either.
I remember reading a post about chassis paint available in a paint can. It sounded like this would be a good paint option for me since it is a more durable coating. Where can I find this stuff and are there other alternatives. I don't want to take anywhere to have someone paint for me; I would really like to do myself.
I used Eastwood Chassis Black over Rust Bullet. The finish was shinier than I expected. I was looking for more of a satin finish. I have to do the whole process over again with another frame so I'll probably use something different this time.
If not getting the POR treatment ... and bare metal exposed ... I would use primer.
Rustoleum is a nice paint, but it takes forever to dry and runs easily.
Both problems addressed well with Krylon (which is the primer I would select also).
If rattle cans turn you off, consider spraying with the disposable Preval
sprayer. Pretty sure I've seen them at Home Depot. http://www.prevalspraygun.com

So, since they are already painted and I want to freshen up, I can just use a solvent to clean real good, lightly sand and put a new top coat of Krylon on?
I just finished refurbing my suspension to include stripping and repainting all the parts. I used both Krylon and Rustoleum and I prefer the Rustoleum. I took my time and let it dry over night and it came out thick and tough. I used Semi-Gloss Protective Enamel. I recommend gtting a can of Rustoleum and Krylon and doing a side by side comparison. It's a cheap comparative test.

Thanks for all the info. I used Rustoleum Professional grade Semi-Gloss based on a forum member's recommendation when I painted my engine fan and pulleys. I still have some of that, so that is what I'll use. I just wanted to see what everyone was using. Thanks again . . .
Definetly prime than paint. I personally like a semi-gloss/satin color on the frame and a gloss on the suspension pieces(a-arms, t-arm). Makes them pop a little bit.
