hey guys I found a set of Headman headers through a friend for about $350.00 US. The question I have is that it doesn't come with A.I.R system. Now if I were to take the A.I.R system out of my 80 L-48 will I loose Power, performance, or efficiency?( I guess what Im asking is what are the pros and cons of taking out my existing A.I.R system, do I even Need it?). Also is $350.00 US a good price for a set of ceramic headers?

SDPaul, are the headers with the AIR holes C.A.R.B. aproved? I had a local shop tell me that no matter what headers I had they wouldn't pass inspection because of the AIR system. I'm assuming because they meant that I couldn't run the AIR system with headers.

Yes my headers have a CARB number on them.... the shop that said no has no clue what they are doing.

My headers dont have a # that ive ever heard of.. I've taken my car with headers to State inspector stations - test only stations and regular gas (testing) stations and have never had one smog tech question me on them.
99% of the time if the gear is on and operating - whether it has Carb or EO numbers or not - they will let it pass the visual - if it doesnt pass sniffer then it hardly matters if it wont pass visual

That became obvious when the garage monkey came in and threw my paperwork at me saying he couldn't do an inspection because he couldn't find a VIN on the front edge of the dash. I called him an idiot and proceeded to point out the VIN on the A-pillar.
