Alternator Bracket....keeps breaking!!!!!! WHY!!

. After about 8 months each one broke in the groved area (on top) where the alternator is bolted to. So I kept getting another one, and another one and another one. I even went and installed a ZOOPS aluminum bracket but didn't like the way it kept lossening, so I went back to the stock bracket...but this time, I had 2 of them bolted together (on the recomendation of several mechanics and parts guys), had it chromed and that set up lasted until TODAY when I saw it too was BROKEN in the same spot!!!!
This one lasted about 2 years.....Like this:

So I went ahead and order this Billet Specialities aluminum bracket from Summit Racing...

Getting it Thursday....here we go AGAIN!!!!
So here's my question after going down memory lane....WHY in the he(( to these brackets keep breaking???? Does anyone else have the same problem???? What is the solution....I hope getting the $130 bracket will finally fix the problem!!!!
Let me know out there ok?
is the bracket shimmed so the pulley is in the same "plane" as the other pulley?..... maybe there's a twisting motion that happens when you accelarate and over time that creates a moment failure...... picture bending a paper clip back and forth about 20 times until it snaps....same concept but in smaller proportions.......

I have ran the one on my vette for 16(4 years lost to restoration) years and they have been hard years and mine has never broke. AS well as most people on this forum , I assume.
I'd say look at the alignment of the pulleys, alignment of the bracket You have to be putting some torsion in the bracket to get it to break that way.. You have had multiple failures of the same bracket--- which means its not the bracket's fault (since the bracket has proven itself over decades of service in hundreds of thousands of vehicles)

I ran one on a SK Modified that I raced years ago
I know theyre still available but I cant recall the name.
Perhaps this will ring somebodys bell and they will be able to step in
Its very very strong and you could probably fabricate one yourself if you have the proper tools
I will look through my old pics of the stock car and see if I can find a pic
If I find one I will scan it and post it
EDIT*
Look at the bottom of the page for "Rod End Alternator Strut"
$30 and it will not fail.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
1- check the shim washer behind the water pump pulley, mine had one.
2- use a straight edge on the face of the alternator pulley to see if the others align properly.
3- if you are doubling the bracket, you are pushnig the alt. pulley forward by a small amount.
