What specifically makes a Rally Sport. The searches I've done only mention wheels, but NADA adds %25 for RS. What's the deal? My 78 has Rally Sport wheels (I believe, center caps and beauty rings). Thanks

Rally Sport is an apperance package for Camaros. Not available on Corvettes as they don't need factory cosmetic upgrades! You have Corvette Rally Wheels on your car which did come on some Camaros and you usually see on vettes older than yours. I think they look great on your car. Much nicer looking than the alloy wheels you see on most 78's Welcome to Corvette Forum!!!
The rally sport was an apperance package and had nothing to do with preformance. You could get a RS camaro with a 6cyc engine. You could however combine RS with SS or Z28.This has nothing to do with Vettes.Only Camaros.I know I've had more than I can remember. For 67-69 the RS had the hideaway headlights. For 70-73 it had the split front bumpers and the round turnsignal lights mounted high on the front facia. Some people put the split front bumpers in a standard front end (they will bolt right up) an call it a RS.NO NO!!!
I've also wondered of this RS package...one would think NADA would be smart enuf to not include that as an option and as FireMedic says, a 25% increase in value is no sneezer....maybe they are saying the center/ring wheels are RS??? I also have painted, aero door mirrors, not chrome, I assume that was an option as well....and of course the luggage rack....
Chrome mirrors went away after '76. Aero mirrors were standard after that. Ralley wheels were standard all the way till '82 I believe. Aluminum wheels were optional from '77 on. This thread just proves that NADA knows jack about classic cars.

Chrome mirrors were used into mid-year 1979. Sport Mirrors did not become standard until mid year 1979, so before that unless you ordered RPO D35, the 77, 78 and early 79 cars came with a single chrome mirror.

True but Aluminum Wheels first readily available in 1976 with 6,253 cars so equipped.
That's the point...my 76 has a late year VIN with Sports Mirrors and alloy rims, chrome rings and center cap....does that make it an RS model? again, a 25% value increase must mean lots of money output at delivery time...according to NADA

NO. There has never been an RS Corvette. NADA has no idea what they are talking about.
Good information about RS. I have always been a fan to first gen camaros and am aware of what means for that, but had never heard of it on vettes until I saws it on NADA. There values do not seem to corespond to the current prices I've seen advertised. NADA also does not seem to include alot of the other option that corvettes actually did come with. Any idea how they arrive at thier values?

NADA arrives at their values using an extremely scientific method known as PFM. Pure F***ing Magic. It usually involves a dart board covered with numbers and some darts.
