I have been working on 71 wipers I am at the point where all systems work BUT the relay/ solenoid under/behind the tach. It will shut off the vac. when I do it manually but will not when i have the wires ( LT Blue and Yellow) connected and cut on the wipers. I checked each of these wires for current and both are hot all the time. According to the wiring diagram I have (got it on line from wilcox) these wires go to a relay. then the yellow goes to the ww washer. I found a relay on the tranmission hump that looks to be it. Is it. and how do I test it to be sure it is good and for a solid ground. also why is the LBL hot where would i look for back feed? or shoud the LBL be hot when the switch is off and go to ground when the switch is cut on:
Thanks for any help.
I am so suprised that this has gotten no responce but thought i might bring you guys up to speed on where i am now.
The wiper vac solenoid is toast and i am waiting for a new/used one.
The 3+2 relay on the transmission hump is the wiper relay.
The group of 3 are all grounds and seem to be good
the yellow is hot and the LBL is a ground.
Thie LBL is getting backfeed from somewhere but NOT the relay or the vac solenoid both have been disconnected and LBL is still hot
It seems the backfeed is coming through the motor but i can not as yet determine Why Bad motor or bad ground. I have tested all the grounds (motor case and blk lead) and both seem to be good.
anyone have any ideas for test od some way to definitivly test this circuit?
