Default How to store engine?

I recently swapped my L48 in my '73 for a ZZ4. I am very happy with the performance of the new motor. My question is, how does one store the old motor. Obviously, it should be on some kind of stand. It is currently on the crate motor stand, which is on top of a dolly (furniture) mover. Much easier to move around the garage. Should the motor oil be drained? Should the water also be drained? Should I plug the carb. area and the exhaust ports? In other words should all the openings be plugged? Should I be aware of any other precautions? It seems as though the old motor is a matching #'s motor. Of the numbers that I can read on the block, they match the last nine digits on the vin number... I'm not really concerned that these numbers match. I plan on keeping the engine none the less. I wish to thank all that respond in advance for your information and assistance.

Too bad you didn't ask about this before you removed the L-48. I would have suggested that you change the oil/filter, and then 'fog' the engine by dumping something like 'Sea Foam' through the carburetro with the engine still running until it got so rich it dies. (Doing this would provide a good coat of lubrication to cylinder walls, rings, and valve stems)

Given your current situation, I suggest you change oil and filter, then remove spark plugs, and squirt several pumps of engine oil into each cylinder, and then turn the engine over by hand, using a socket on the harmonic balancer nut. Would then re-install spark plugs, and drain coolant from the block, re-installl coolant plugs, using anti-seize, and then tape shut (duct tape) all openings/holes.
