Default Stall Converter

I have been told to put a 2200 stall converter in my 79 L 82 turbo 350 auto because of the engine build they are doing. I thought these transmissions came with a 2000 stall converter already. Is there a way to tell by something on the converter itself? Numbers are anything?

I'm not sure of the part number off the top of my head, but the later model L-82s definately had a looser converter than the L-48s due to the camshaft. If it were me, I would leave it for now and see how it drives. You can always drop the trans and install a different converter later. BTW, what cam are you going to be using that needs a looser converter?

not much difference between 2000 and 2200....I have a 2500 stall speed and thats way loose i also have a lock up 700r4

Grind Number: 282 H06 crane duration 270 if i use this one I might try to get one a for some lower end power I need my power band from 1500-5500 would be ideal for me.

That camn sounds a bit large if you are trying to achieve low end torque at 1,500 RPM. IMHO..You might as well stick with the L-82 cam and advance it 4-6 degrees..Jackson, what do you think?
