now if only I could find that "extra money"
Any suggestions on keeping the peace, and the car?
Or am I the only one who has the little women upset.
Thanks,
pivan
PS: The family is still well taken care of...

June does the WHEELS?
How did you wangle that one? After watching me polish my new alloys with Solvol for a week (in front of the TV!), Carey politely told me that if I ever had any ideas of asking her to polish them in the future then I could....
Well it sort of translates as "No, I'd rather not. But thanks for asking" ;)
But she did spend a hot summer day polishing all the interior with vinyl cleaner using a toothbrush (excellent way of cleaning the ingrained dirt out). I thought it was great, until I found out that it was my toothbrush

On the other hand, she knows how much I love my Vette and rarely complains about the time or money spent on it. I've got to give her a lot of crecit for that. I don't know how I would feel about investing $10K or more in a time-consuming hobby of hers, particularly if I didn't get anything out of it.

Fortunately, she loves driving it and is really proud of the work I've done -- I don't think I'd enjoy the car half as much if she wasn't interested. In fact, the other night I asked her to move it out of the driveway so we could re-arrange cars in the garage. 20 min later she comes back and I asked "Where were you?" -- she says "I HAD to go for a cruise in the car -- there was no way I could get in it and just move it down the driveway!"
That's when you know you've found the ONE! :D
Anyhow, it does help somewhat if you have a freelance gig or two on the side. That way you can work out a 60/40 split between savings and the "fun" car for the extra dough. Just make sure you have enough offsetting business expenses during the year so you don't take a big hit from your 1099s.
Of course, this only applies if you can itemize.
I come home from work after a late meeting and she asks me what my schedule was for the next morning, can I change my meetings around and we have an appointment at the car dealer at 8:30. I just looked at her and said "We just bought a new Corvette, didn't we?" :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Because it is a new car, it dosn't REQUIRE a lot of time on maintenance and repairs and restoration. An because it is my daily driver, I can't afford to have it torn apart, waiting for parts. So most of the work goes into simple bolt on mods and cleaning and polishing. I usually get home from work before she does, so thats when I do that. When she gets home, I now have time to spend with her. :D
And by the way, my wife feels the same way. There are far worse things that I could be spending time and money on, she loves to go cruizin and we are both in out 50's and lovin' life. She even does the wave if I miss one. :D :seeya
