Has anybody swapped a 82' rear end out for a cast iron earlier rear end. The cast iron are stronger are'nt they? does anybody know how much work it is to do this?
You'll have to weld in the "top hat" mounts for the differential
cross-member to mount to the frame. You "might" have to remove some or
all of the steel mount brackets for the aluminum housing.
You may also need different Ujoints to fit the new yokes.
I have not done this - but thinking about another member's vette.
He is looking to convert iron >> aluminum (weight/racing issues).
Hopefully, I will be involved in the conversion.
