Pilot Bushing exploded
Greetings, pulled the clutch & trans. on my 383 tonight, thought the clutch disk was glazed over. The borg & beck pressure plate is warped, grooved & blued. The disk was not glazed. Rather it is was worn unevenly down to the metal disk that the friction pads are bonded to. The hayes billet fly wheel definitely needs to be resurficed, perhaps replaced.The pilot bushing was fragmented & looked like bakelite material, not a bronze item. Haven't drained tranny, but the main shaft spins freely & without noise. I have approx. 1k-2k miles plus12 or so 1/4 mile runs (street tires) on new clutch flywheel & rebuilt tranny. Could not hear any problems over the exhaust, but the clutch definelty slipped at higher rpms/ torque levels. Any thoughts?
