I just got a pair of Sport Mirrors (Aero mirrors) to put on my '77. My question is where does the remote adjustor go in the door panel? Anyone got a picture to show?
Thanks....... Gary
The AIM shows it. If memory serves, the back of the door panel already has the required hole in it. You shouldn't need to do much more than cut the hole in the door skin.
FWIW: you have to route the mirror wires to insure they do not interfere with the door glass.
Gary... before you install these, be sure they are for the Corvette and not Camaro/Firebird. They look identical, but the pedestal on the Corvette mirror is about an inch taller, so you only get half a mirror filled with the rear fender...
Back in the late 70's these were sold at all of the shows (I even bought a set.. ) and many of them were from the Camaro/Firebird because they were so readily available... needless to say most were disappointed when they installed them and all they could see was their rear fender... I was fortunate someone tipped me before I installed them...
I agree with using the AIM, but if you have the Deluxe Interior, they go in the middle of the wood-grain trim at the top of the panel well forward, almost in line with the window crank.

I figured there might be a cut out in the back of the door panel but I have not taken it off yet to install them. I do think I have the Corvette mirrors GUSTO because the picture looks like they are pretty tall. I hope so anyway. The Chrome mirrors I have now show a lot of the rear fender that is for sure!! Thanks for the information

If you see the rear fender in the side mirrors you don't have them adjusted right. The mirrors should be adjusted out to the side of the car to eliminate the blind spot. As a car passes you fom behind they should be entering the side mirror range as they leave the rear view mirror range.

Good luck... GUSTO
I've never seen a set with a different base. My sport mirrors came from a Pontiac. The base was the exact same as the one on a known Corvette mirror I had laying around. They all used different gaskets to correct for door angle, which would cause weird positioning. The gaskets are available from all the usual vendors.
These mirrors are from a 68-69 Trans-am, driver is a manual remote.
Mounted to low, only see 3/4 of the view.
Will replace someday, check out some of the newer heated/turn signal mirrors, looks like an easy conversion.
I have the sport mirrors on my 68 from a 70's Camaro
They look good, except the pass side is worthless for viewing(see about 1/2 of the rear fender) but I always look before I change lanes anyway rather than depending on mirrors
