sidepipe installation
have been working all day installing my hooker big block sidepipes and headers. These things sure didn't fit very well. Had to make a huge dent in pipe to even get it in past the steering box and 2 pipes on the passenger side wer on the frame. Is having to dimple them this much normal? Also how much of the fiberglass trim did you have to cut away behind the wheels to make them not touch anything. I had to trim about an inch off the bottom and go toward the back of the car about 10 inches, alot of fiberglass. Thanks.

I just got mine in from HPC the other day after they ceramic coated them black for me.
I test fit them on my 69 Big Block 509 and they fit but like you say they were tight.
My body is not yet on my frame so it was easy to test install them.
I hope I sure don't have to dent them due to not wanting to chip away the ceramic coating.
Don't you think that with modem day manufacturing process's that they could get things like this to fit perfectly?

I had these about 8 years ago... I don't remember having near the amount of problems your listing. Was this an original Big Block car?
In regards to trimming, I remember having to trim the satin trim pieces (can't remember the correct term - along the bottom though) where the pipes exited from under the car, but that was pretty much it. No dimples were necessary.

I've had a few sets of Hookers, and this is a fairly common thing. However, the other brands I've tried (Cyclone, Hedman) were worse. It kind of depends on the application. Tightest fit I ever did was on my BOSS, but they sure work well! :yesnod:
