So they have more protection? Ok, I just looked it up, it's a blow proof housing, hhmm..
No more protection than a Lakewood just a little tighter tolerance. My Lakewood needed .007 offset dowel pins. Not a big deal at all. They are both blowshields and will do the same thing.
How does a bellhousing protect the trans from blowing up? The bellhousing may protect the flywheel & clutch from scattering but not the trans. Right?
Right, I was curious as to what people had already installed for the clutch, flywheel safety. SINCE there is NO safety feature for a blowout.( sorry, I got reemed for talking badly about the aledged safety of a vette on another post).
Good info on what is possible, your questions makes me wonder if a tranny cover is needed, hhmm, probably not...
I run a "swap meet" Lakewood 2 piece. You need to look and cut the flange off the bottom of the scattershield if your car sits lower than stock or it will hang up on any speed bump you try to pass over. Don't worry about the loss in strength, the parts will exit out of the bottom towards the track and not cut your foot off. I run a scattershield because of my prefrence for the L-88 14lb nodular iron flywheel.
