Okay...here's an idea. Clean the entire engine and compartment. Clean it very well. Fill the motor, and drive it. Then, inspect it from over, under, beside it, and everywhere and see if you can see anything. You should find traces of oil leaking, and that may help narrow it down.

Did you get an exact location of the leak? Intake manifold gaskets maybe? That'd be the fault of the guy installing it for sure.

I don't know how much $ you have into this engine job but you might want to talk to an attorney. In the mean time, make yourself some notes as to what happened when and who did what work. If the engine is damaged, you may have to eat the cost if you're not careful.

It probably wouldn't hurt to have another shop look at it also, before it gets any worse. They probably won't be able to fix it, but they can give you an idea of what went wrong and who is to blame.

They will probably give you an honest answer if the other shop is to blame.

Hint: when the oil pressure gauge reads 0 you are low on oil, I have run low and had oil pressure drop when cornering and hard acc/deceleration but still had at least 3 qts left.

I've seen cheap valve covers leak a quart every 100 miles out the back so you don't see or smell oil. When you know you have a leak, it's very prudent to check your oil often.

grandsport, i hear that you are the old technology, not our 350's....

blue out of the mufflers unless you just install and exhaust system and
only for a short time. You should here no clicking from valve train unless adjusted wrong or solid lifters.
Are you kidding? Didn't you ever watch the movies from when you were a kid and the dad pulls in to the gas station and says "Fill it up and check the oil"? You think that was a Hollywood thing?

My grandpa used to check every fluid level as well as tire pressure and all lights before ever taking his old Spitfire out for a drive. EVERY time, without fail. It's how they did things.

Well if it is leaking like Crazy then he may of broke an oil pressur line or poked a rod through the pan. The way it sounds oil is POURING out of this motor.

Something I noticed too when driving the car, the oil pressur gage will sometimes go crazy as I switch gears from 0 to 40 then 0 then 80...Don't know what it is. it doesn't do it all the time.
he car is being inspected right now.
The shop owner said he might get my engine borded (he will pay the machin shop)But good is my engine going to be after beeing re done?? never as good as new I'm sure...

Could be because you were low on oil. The pickup for the oil is in the pan. As you excellerate or decellerate the little oil may be moving around in the pan...sometime the it hits the pickup sometimes it doesn't.

Easy way to check. make sure oil is full to the mark on the dip stick. Watch the oil guage at idle...is it steady??? Give it a little gas in park...does it move just a bit??? If so should be fine mechanically.

Don't let him do anything until you know what it is went wrong. Having an engine bored out is a very rare and extreme thing to do if an engine is run low on oil. If it locked up and seized then I could see that as being an option...but he better have a good reason for taking your engine all the way down to a bare block for an oil leak.

This guy is constantly getting screwed. Isn't there anyone in the Houston area that can exchange info with him and help him out?

I think there are a bunch of problems he's having...
Language barrier mostly
I don't think he knows a whole lot about motors/cars
The shops are screwing him
He doesn't know any better that they are screwing him
He doesn't know what to ask the shop
He doesnt understand what the shop is saying
He keeps going to the same shops instead of getting a second opinion
And most of all he keeps driving his car back and forth to these shops w/o oil!

MEGALADON lives in Houston and has offered help but I don't know if MDjice has opened communications with him. I wish I were closer.

I was going up to see it friday, he already took it back to his mehcanic , not so smart of a move.

I explained to him to leave the car alone till I got there in case it was something simple.

Keep on him. Go when he gets the car back out and maybe you can help him before his next drop off happens.
