Well the Performer intake finally arrived ( thanks RCastor426 ) Came with gaskets but just wanted to check they are correct for the application as I had trouble finding them on the manufactures site.
I have a set of Mr Gasket Ultra Seal #5821
Just checked the pdf I have and it says sm race port. Do I have the correct gaskets?
I can't help on the numbers but Edelbrock suggests front and back gaskets are not used, instead they recommend 1/4" bead of high temp RTV gasket maker. That's what the instructions were on mine.
Basic question is, how do the gaskets line up with the ports on the head and intake. Are they too big, too small or just right?
LOL...dont know! As Im in the UK I want to make sure they are going to fit before I strip it down. I dont want my baby off the road whilst I wait for gaskets to be shipped!
If they emulate the Fel Pro gaskets, they should be 1.28" X 2.09" as compared to the stock ones at 1.23" X 1.99". Basically all this allows for is some very slight port matching or allows for any mismatch between the heads and intake. If they are all you have at the moment, I wouldn't worry about the .05" X .10" differences.
According to the manufacturers site, they have sealant built in around ports...does this mean I just need a bead front and back or should I double up and go around the ports also....

NO GASKETS on the front and rear
Read my post in this thread
I totally agree with Bob, and depending upon the gasket used I may add some spray tack to the head side of the gasket to hold it nicely in place along with the Very light coating of RTV around the water ports. I chase every single bolt hole on an engine before asembly as well.

oops
I forgot to mention
There are a 2 or 4 (I dont remember) pushrods that the bottom tap can come in contact with as the tap is longer than the bolts so be careful
If you run the tap in too far it can hit the pushrod and possibly bend it.
The good thing is that you can see which ones can be effected if you watch closely when you chase the threads.
