Default Steeroids install question

I bolted the rack into the chassis build up on the '69 today. While the instructions, pictures and (lack of) illustrations were a bit weak, it all went together nicely.

I was surprised that the kit did not include all of the hardware necessary to install the gusset completely (i.e. the piece that mounts to frame and dr. side bracket). It only included the bolts, washers and nylon lock nuts that mount it to the bracket. Nothing to bolt it up to the frame (4 mounting holes). Nothing a quick trip to the HW store couldn't fix, but dissapointing. Did anyone else have this issue?

I was also trying to understand previous comments here that the brackets didn't seem strong enough. Once mounted, the unit looks very secure to me.

Here's a few pics (excuse the dust - I live in a freakin' desert ):

mine had all the hardware.......make sure you understand the relationship of the self cancelling blinkers to the column shaft.....and to how you hook it up to the double d shaft and the r/p unit.......you want everything to be centered so the blinkers cancel properly.....once you slip the u joint on the column its too late to go back and redo it

I'm with Bob, everything included and went together nicely. I had one little problem with a catchy spot at times that I later tracked down to contact between a header tube and set screw for the U-joint. Pay very close attention to alignment of these joints and clearances. Mine did not contact with the car sitting on the garage floor but after driving some I could see a scratch on the header tube that the set screw caused.

You mean these 4 right???

You should have reused the original stud plates for the power steering cylinder outer bracket. They are 2 plates with each 2 studs that you drop into the frame through the large hole and then thread a nut onto the bottom. It should not come with the kit, as it's an oem part and should be reused.

His car probably didn't have power steering originally so the stud plates won't be there. Also, you have the tie rod bracket on upside down.

Upside Down, good catch - you are right. I'll flip it over. I did have PS but didn't remember the plates inside the frame - I'll have to dig through my old HW. Thanks

OK flipped it over. I am reminded why it's called "high strength thread locker"

Oh, and I found the other pieces mentioned (for the gusset) still in my old '69 frame. I'm not sure if I'll reuse them, the new bolts look a heck of a lot better to me.

I was very happy with the Steeroids rack, it bolted right in and alignments were good. Going from no power to a power rack was great.
In higher stressing situation like racing it seems that some of the brackets and the center plate were flexing a bit. I've reinforced mine, in 95% of the cars using Steeroids the plates are probably adequate.
