Default Rookie Frame Repair

It was kinda tough to find some good photos of this repair on line, so I thought I'd post a few here for the other rookies like me.

The repair kit used is the 23" kit from Zip Corvette. The kit came with inner and outer rails, a splicing sleeve, lower gussets and the end caps. I added the #3 & 4 mounts to the kit and spent about $500. Quality was top notch.

We spent a lot of time levelling, bracing, checking and marking the dimension before making the first cut. This was time well spent as we had no movement during cutting or welding and maintaned the factory tolerances during the process.

The repair are almost complete. We still have to weld in #3 & 4 mounts and touch up some of the existing welds. A couple more nights and we'll be ready for paint.

Overall, I very pleased with the results.

Hopefully the pics will help someone. I have a lot more shots of the repairs. If anyone needs more detailed pics feel free to contact me and I'll be glad to send them to you.

Ian

You did yourself proud with a professional looking result. Who did you purchase the repair patch pieces from? Don't forget to add the #3 cage mount and drill the bolt clearance holes.

Excellent job It's nice to see you were able to salvage the frame. Once it's painted, it will look brand spanking new!

Certainly doesn't look like a rookie job.

Looks like you got plenty of room to work on it.

Patch pieces came from Zip Corvette. I still have to weld in both #3 & 4 mounts on both sides. After that, we plan to reweld the motor mounts and touch-up a few of the old stich welds that look a little tired.

Nice work and great pics! I replaced my '69 4spd frame which looked better than that - maybe I should have fixed mine? Excellent work.
